Students in Mrs. Dooley's 5th grade science class recently worked on a project to gather evidence to support an argument that the apparent brightness of the sun is dependent upon an observer's distance from the sun.
In this activity, students constructed a model solar system and gathered observations of the sun's apparent brightness (using a flashlight) from each planet within their model. They used those observations as evidence to support a claim about which planet is best suited to explore with a solar-powered planetary rover.
Sixth grade students are having a great time this evening at their dance in the middle school gym!
Earlier this week, Mrs. Kennedy’s middle school social studies classes participated in a Government Word Wall Scavenger Hunt. The students will be spending 4th quarter learning about government systems and their rights as U.S. citizens.

8th grade students went to the high school on Thursday for their enrollment orientation. Counselors and selected juniors shared a variety of information and answered questions about making the transition to high school.
Mrs. Batye's 5th grade English language arts classes celebrated National Read Across America Day today by listening to famous authors talk about why reading is important and what inspired them to write. Students also shared their favorite book and why it’s their favorite.

Registration is now open for 2023 Summer School for students that will be in Kindergarten-8th grade during the 2023-2024 school year. Summer school will take place June 5th-29th.

In Mrs. Dooley's 5th grade science class, students have been learning about all the Earth systems. Students got to see how clouds condense and then precipitate once the water drops get too heavy. They enjoyed the shaving cream rain cloud experiment.
Congratulations to these middle school students for being selected for the Northeast Missouri Music Educators Association Junior High District Band. They rehearsed all day on Saturday at Moberly High School and performed a concert with the band on Saturday evening.
The middle school had a pep assmebly today to celebrate Courtwarming! It included performances by the high school band and cheerleaders, recognition of winter sports, clubs and groups, along with basketball games between students and teachers.
The Southern Boone Board of Education approved the district calendar for the 2023-2024 school year during the board’s monthly meeting on Monday, February 13th, 2023.
