Important Announcement

Dear Southern Boone School District Families,

Due to the snow in the forecast for late tonight and early tomorrow morning, the Southern Boone School District will be closed on Friday, January 10th, 2025. This will be a traditional snow day.

We hope that notifying you of the school closing this evening, instead of waiting until early tomorrow morning, provides you with advance notice to make any necessary childcare arrangements for your students.

We appreciate your patience, understanding and flexibility as we’ve faced these winter weather-related challenges this week. We know that canceling school for an entire week has been difficult for many families. Please know these decisions are never made lightly, as we understand the challenges they bring to your schedules and routines. Thank you for your support as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff.

Snow Day Usage Update
With Friday's snow day, the district will have used all six traditional snow days built into this year’s school calendar. If we have to cancel school due to inclement weather, the district has five Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) or virtual learning days available. More information about AMI days will be shared next week by your child’s building principal and/or teacher.

Please stay safe and exercise caution if you need to be on the roads on Friday. Thank you for your continued support of our students, staff and school district!

Yours in Education,

Dr. Tim Roth
School Superintendent
