Students in Mrs. Lazinger's 5th grade English language arts class are reviewing skills this week to prepare for MAP testing. They played "Spoons" to review synonyms, antonyms, homophones and homographs.

All 8th grade students and their families and friends are invited to attend the event as we celebrate the 8th grade students and all of their accomplishments while at the middle school.
Middle school students in Junior Beta Club volunteered last week at the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri in Columbia.
The Middle School Quiz Bowl competed in the Moberly Young Scholar Tournament last weekend at Moberly Middle School. A total of 14 schools and 120 students participated in the tournament. Congratulatiosn to Chelsea Klutho and Blake Schupp for earning high score awards.
The middle school had a pep assembly on Thursday afternoon to celebrate Courtwarming and included basketball games between students and teachers.
The annual Courtwarming Dodgeball Tournament is Thursday, February 8th at 7:30PM in the HS Gym. $2 entry, popcorn, soda, and candy concessions. Middle school teams start at 7:30 with the HS bracket to follow. Come watch the most exciting dodgeball tournament you'll see this year!

Students in Mrs. Rogers' 6th grade class volunteered to prepare potatoes for Thursday's community Thanksgiving dinner at the middle school. The students peeled, washed and chopped 50 pounds of potatoes in an hour.
The middle school is hosting a basketball showcase this afternoon. Southern Boone 7th and 8th Grade Girls Basketball teams are taking on California. All middle school students are attending the games to cheer on their classmates.
Students in Mrs. Dooley's 5th grade science class recently worked on creating elephant toothpaste and looked at how the conservation of mass plays a role in chemical changes.
Mrs. Edwards' 5th grade math class made Halloween Candy Catapults last week using straws, rubber bands, paper cups, and a spoon. The students planned, built and tested their designs before competing with each other. The winning catapult launched candy a distance of five feet.

Mrs. Batye’s 5th grade English language arts class is learning about figurative language. Students listened to songs and identified similes, metaphors, and onomatopoeia in the music. Students then applied those skills by writing figurative language about a pumpkin they created.
Opaa! Food Management is hosting Breakfast with a Champion this Friday morning at the primary, elementary and middle school cafeterias. Students will be able to enjoy a healthy breakfast with Southern Boone Football players on game day!
